Political differences were set aside yesterday as members of both the ruling government and the opposition gathered in David yesterday to say goodbye to Agustín Escudé, who died of a heart attack on Jan. 1.
The funeral was attended by numerous legislators from the National Assembly, as well as second Vice President Ruben Arosemena and presidential candidates Balbina Herrera and Juan Carlos Varela.The funeral was held at the International Fairgrounds of San José, in David.
National Assembly President Raúl Rodríguez, who suspended his scheduled trip to Havana, Cuba, also attended.
The legislator was eulogized by Rubén De León, José I. Blandón and Dilio Arcia, who represented the president's office.Escudé, who also served as a firefighter and an evangelical minister, was buried in the municipal Jardín de Paz.
