Violence persists in Chiriquí homes
More than 2,000 cases of domestic violence were recorded by the Public Ministry in Chiriquí during the first 10 months of this year, according to family prosecutor Rodrigo Luque.
When asked about the possibility that new strategies are not sufficient to halt the violence, Luque warned of the impact of cultural aspects in society, stating that, "Strategies that allow us to comprehensively address domestic violence are very valuable, but this problem must be fought from within the home."
Rosina Pérez, a representative of the Ministry of Social Development, assured that the problem would be addressed in a systematic manner through the Local Network for Prevention and Attention to Domestic Violence, established in Chiriquí last Friday.
