Suit asks for Murcia’s companies to be seized
A group of at least 15 plaintiffs filed a request before a civil court asking that companies linked to Colombian businessman David Murcia be seized, and that $311,000 owed to them be returned.
Among the 18 companies sought out is the DMG investment group, which Murcia used to sign the lease of a lavish apartment on Avenida Balboa. Some of the other corporations requested for seizure were formed by PMC International Legal Services.
PMC partner Ernesto Chong claims that, although he met Murcia in 2006, it was not until March 2008 that the Colombian retained the services of his company. However, the Public Registry certified that, between 2006 and 2007, PMC did in fact establish companies for Murcia, placing names of Chong's employees as managers of Murcia's companies.
Murcia, founder of DMG, was arrested in Panama on Nov. 19, and currently remains in the maximum security building of La Picota prison in Colombia, accused of ties with drug trafficking and money laundering.
