Downtown traffic patterns may change
Officials with ATTT, the government's transportation authority, along with the Ministry of Public Works and police, will be analyzing traffic around the Coastal Belt project to determine what changes will be made.
Officials said changes will be required once work on the bridge in the middle of Avenida Balboa resumes on Dec. 26. That project, in the Paitilla area next to Multicentro shopping center, is expected to cause a severe disruption to traffic.
ATTT Secretary General Miguel Martínez said that Vía España, Vía Porras, Vía Brasil, Calle 50, José Agustín Arango, Domingo Díaz and part of Boyd Roosevelt could be changed to accommodate the traffic.
He said that possibilities include making one or more of these streets one-way, the helping reduce the amount of traffic on Avenida Balboa during the construction of the bridge.
