U.S. First Lady Laura Bush arrived in Panama yesterday for a two-day visit to the country.
Bush arrived at Tocumen International Airport at about 3 p.m. She was met by Panamanian First lady Vivian Fernández de Torrijos and a group of students who were waving flags from both countries.
The two first ladies went to the Eusebio A. Morales Library, in Santa Ana, where they met with students who are participating in the program “English for Life.”
Security was tight during the event, with more than 30 officers on guard at the library.
The meeting with the students lasted about 30 minutes.
Today, Bush and Fernández will participate in the signing of an agreement to combat breast cancer.
