Boquete residents demand tighter security

In response to increased incidents of burglary and theft in the area, residents of Boquete, in the mountainous area of the Chiriquí province, are pleading with authorities to beef up security measures and police vigilance.

According to Boquete mayor, Manolo Ruiz, police in the region are currently monitoring some networks of teenagers that have already been identified in taking part in recent robberies. He further disclosed that of the two cases filed so far this week, those involved had already been successfully apprehended.

Additional reports from a source within the judicial investigation department in Boquete claim that several members of the gangs involved in these crimes were detained this week, along with a taxi driver who was allegedly in charge of transporting the stolen goods.
