Parade rescheduled for juan díaz

The continued cleanup of the damage caused by flooding in the area of Juan Díaz has pushed back planned independence day festivities.

Instead of being held on Nov. 3, the community's annual parade celebrating freedom from Colombia will be held on Nov. 30.

Javier Samaniego, a member of the community's Municipal Board, said that the flooding, which took place in late October and early November, caused the parade, which had been held for more than 10 years, to be postponed.

“The national government declared the area a disaster zone and the event was canceled, but the young people were ready, so I had to give them a new date,” he said. The parade will involve 35 schools and six bands.
