Businessman kills 2 thieves

The owner of Reciclaje R.M.S in San Miguelito shot and killed two would-be robbers of the business.

The owner of a metal recycling business in the Los Andes area of San Miguelito killed two youths yesterday who had apparently planned to rob the business.

Several witnesses indicated that the young men arrived at the business at around 7:45 a.m., shortly after the owner, whose identity was not revealed, arrived to open the shop.

According to witness reports, three men had entered the Reciclaje R.M.S prior to the owner’s arrival on the scene, and had brandished weapons at employees who were present.

When the owner realized what was going on, he confronted the would-be robbers with a gun and a shootout ensued, resulting in the death of two of the men. A third escaped in a car that had been idling outside.

Police sources reported that the bodies of the two young men were discovered without identification. One was thought to have been between 25 and 30, and the other was about 17.

Other witnesses said the business owner had decided to arm himself a few weeks ago, following several months of constant assaults on the company and his employees.

Investigators from the Directorate of Judicial Investigation were sent to inspect the scene.
