BRIEFS: Public safety
Murder investigation underway
Authorities have not made any arrests nor established a motive in the murder of Edelmira Rodríguez, a maid who was found stabbed to death outside a house in Albrook Wednesday night.
The body was discovered outside house number 67 in the area of Green Valley.
At first, inquiries conducted by the Dirección de Investigación Judicial (DIJ) pointed to robbery as the reason behind the crime. But the home's owner, Maritza Cedeño, reported that, while a ring and a watch were missing from the residence, there didn't appear to be any other signs of a break-in.
Police now think the murder may have been a “crime of passion,” and have started interviewing her friends and family to see if they can establish a motive.
The victim had lacerations on her neck and bruises on her face, according to information from the Instituto de Medicina Legal.
