Cruise line seeks employees

The cruise line Royal Caribbean wants to hire 2,000 Panamanians as crew members when its ships start calling at Colón Dec. 7.
Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP) Administrator Fernando Solórzano said the main problem in responding to the request is finding enough workers who are fluent in English.
AMP is working with the Instituto Nacional de Formación Profesional y Capacitación para el Desarrollo Humano (Inadeh) and the Universidad Marítima Internacional de Panamá to fulfill the cruise company's request.
It takes about six months to complete the coursework to become certified to work as a mariner on a cruise ship, officials said.
