Fire damages motel

An argument between a couple ended in a fire that damaged nine rooms in a San Miguelito push-button yesterday.

Authorities said that a man and a woman, whose identities were not released, had rented a room at Mi Casita, a push-button in the San Miguelito neighborhood of Pan de Azúcar.

Police said that during the argument, the woman lit the car on fire by “spraying it with an unspecified substance.”

The car, a Hyundai, was destroyed. The fire also damaged the nine rooms in the push- button, which features a garage that users drive into to gain access to the room.

The man suffered burns to his arms in the incident. No one else was injured. Criminal charges are pending.
