Media coverage critiqued
The country's television media was scrutinized yesterday by government officials and members of civil groups for how it handles shows that have violent images.
The questioning came during the second Foro Nacional sobre el Impacto de la Programación de TV.
The panelists include writer Rosa Maria Britton, Attorney General Ana Matilde Gómez and Fernando Martínez, deputy director of Canal 11, among others.
Gómez said that violence on television may be one of the factors that has led to a marked increase in the number of reported cases of domestic violence in the country. In the last 10 months, there have been 13,669 such complaints.
