Mario Rodríguez, provincial director de Salud de Veraguas, reported that his office working to “do whatever it can to bring order” to the Luis Chicho Fábrega Hospital Regional de Veraguas.
Rodríguez noted that this hospital was built prior to the Torrijos administration and said that, over the years, efforts have made to update the hospital. Those changes, he added, are just beginning to take effect.
According to the health director, the hospital staff have stepped up measures concerning “sanitation, hygiene and fumigation […] in the interest of safeguarding health standards.”
Rodríguez confirmed that there had been problems with some of the hospital’s equipment, but did not indicate what, if anything, would be done to repair them.
This year, the Ministerio de Salud set aside $2 million to invest in strengthening health-related services at the hospital, he added. Some of that money will be used to make improvements to rooms.
