Panama well represented in club tournament
Panama's Tauro FC soccer team will play in Puerto Rico Tuesday in the second round of the Concacaf Champions League.
The team qualified for the second round of play after it defeated Chivas USA, the Los Angeles-based Major League Soccer team, in a home-and-home series.
The Tauros will play the Puerto Rico Islanders, who defeated Costa Rica's LD Alajuelense to advance.
Also in the group are Mexico's Santos Laguna and CSD Municipal from Guatemala.
Panama is also being represented by San Francisco FC, which advanced by defeating Deportivo Jalapa from Guatemala.
That team will play the Houston Dynamo in its first game. The other teams in the group are Mexico's UNAM Pumas and L.A. Firpo of El Salvador.
The tournment will conclude next April. The champions league brings together the best club teams from Central and North America.
