The Asociación de Propietarios y Residentes de Clayton (Aprecla) has sent a letter to the Autoridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (ATTT) asking that truck traffic in the area be restricted.
Of particular concern, according to association President Azael Barrera, is the traffic over the Río Cárdenas bridge. The structure, which was built in 1941, has several large cracks in it, and there are fears that the large number of trucks using the bridge could destabilize it.
The association sent a letter to the ATTT in January, but it has not received a response. Residents are also asking the ATTT to work with the Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP) to assess the area's infrastructure, including the roads and bridges.
This is not the first time that truck traffic has been a concern. In June, MOP head Benjamín Colamarco warned that truck traffic on the newly paved Paraíso-Chilibre road would eventually destroy it.
