Ipat installs electronic information booth
The Instituto Panameño de Turismo (Ipat) has installed the first electronic tourism kiosk at the entrance of the cruise ship pier in Colón.
Eventually the agency plans to erect 14 more of the kiosks at popular tourist spots around the country.
The interactive kiosks offer tourists information on a number of interesting sites across the country, said Gustavo Chery, Ipat's systems director.“The kiosk has information that a tourist would be looking for, such as the location of hotels, restaurants and transportation, as well as cultural and historical information,” Chery said.
Eack kiosk costs about $10,000 to install.
Future locations include Tocumen International Airport, Albrook Mall and in the provinces of Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro.
IPAT Colón Director Indira Olmos said that the kiosks will be very useful for visitors, especially with the start of next cruise season coming up.
Olmos said that businesses interested in being listed can contact Ipat.
