| upset: Canal workers’ union members protest what they considered the unjustified termination of six full-time employees.1057083 |
The 12 security guards of the Administración del Canal de Panamá (ACP) who were accused of making calls to phone sex lines while on the clock, had, in fact, been chatting with female friends to try and stay awake, said Felipe Josepth, president of the union representing the Canal de Panamá y el Caribe.
Josepth defended the ACP workers yesterday after the union met at the ACP headquarters to protest the termination of the 12 full-time security guards, according to an ACP press release.
To date, the ACP has dismissed six temporary employees and one probationary worker after an exhaustive investigation found that they had placed calls that were, in some cases, of a sexual nature. The remaining 12 cases await evaluation by Human Resources at the ACP.
