Tourist event planned
In August, Panama will host the IX Foro de Integración y Desarrollo Turístico organized by the Parlamento Centroamericano (Parlacen).
Joel Alejandro Lezcano, president of the Comisión de Turismo del Parlacen, said the forum will be attended by major tourism authorities in the region, including the general manager of the Instituto Panameño de Turismo, Rubén Blades.
Venezuelan tourism minister Olga Cecilia will also attend the event and speak about her country's experiences in rural tourism. The security of the region will also be discussed at the two-day forum, which starts August 23.
“We'll have experts who are going to discuss the tourism security plan for Colombia,” Lezcano said. The forum is expected to attract around 200 participants.
