| delays:The sewage expansion work is causing traffic woes.1046054 |
Going to work will take longer than usual for some commuters this morning as work continues on Vía Domingo Díaz, in front of the Centro Femenino de Rehabilitación.
The work is part of the city's sewage expansion project that is aimed at cleaning up the Bahía de Panama.
Instituto de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Nacionales (Idaan) Director Juan Antonio Ducruet said that two lanes of the four-lane highway will be closed. He added that workers were able to do most of the work yesterday when there was little traffic.
“I understand it’s inconvenient,” Ducruet said. “But this project was announced some time ago.”
The project involves installing sewage pipes near the road.
Similar projects will begin soon on Vía España and Tumba Muerto, which is expected to cause even more serious traffic delays. Motorists are already having to deal with road projects on Tumba Muerto and Vía Transístmica.
