BRIEFS: Government
Public service hiring regulations finalized
The government's roster of civil servants continues to grow despite pledges to reduce the public payroll.
To date, 24,050 officers have been appointed to government jobs, according to Arnulfo De León, head of the Dirección General de Carrera Administrativa (Digeca).
A law passed in January requires public employees to be selected in a competitive process, but the new hires were selected before the law went into effect on April 30.
On Tuesday, the regulations regarding the testing procedures were finalized.
