Former politician’s daughter kidnapped
The daughter of a former legislator was kidnapped and held for 13 hours, but was later released by her captors.
Caroline Rosales, the daughter of former Partido Revolucionario Democrático legislator Donato Rosales, was kidnapped last Monday in Tocumen and held for nearly 13 hours. She was released in the neighborhood of Juan Díaz after being assaulted numerous times.
The former legislator told La Prensa that he learned of the kidnapping when the assailants called him on his cell phone at about 11:30 a.m. and demanded a ransom of $45,000.
The former legislator told the kidnappers that he could not raise that amount of cash so quickly. The kidnappers lowered their demand to $30,000, and then finally released the woman without any ransom payment.
The woman was apparently surprised by the kidnappers while walking near her house where she lives with her three children, who were not with her at the time.
Police said they have no suspects.
