Spanish delegation arrives
A delegation representing 23 Spanish companies will arrive in Panama today to meet with building developers and contractors.
The meetings are being set up by the Cámara Española de Comercio en Panama. The Spanish companies represent a wide rage of vendors, including those selling hardware and building materials.
The executive director of the Cámara Española de Comercio en Panama, María Jesús Alonso, said that there is a growing interest in the Panamanian market among Spanish companies.
"Construction activity has fallen in Spain and businesses want to identify new markets," Jesús Alonso said.
In addition to meeting with developers, the companies will also talk with government agencies and private organizations such as the Cámara Panameña de la Construcción.
The Spanish delegation, led by the president of the Cámara de Comercio de Castellón (Comunidad Valenciana), Salvador Martí Jiménez, will remain in Panama until Wednesday.
There is a growing interest in expanding trade between the two countries.
In May, there is a visit planned by Spanish developers who will be meeting with local real estate promoters.
"The Spanish promoters will visit the country to explore investment opportunities," Jesús Alonso said.
A delegation from Panama plans to visit Spain the following month. That delegation will consist of companies interested in importing construction materials.
