Robbers take $4,500 from post office
Several robbers held up the post office in Calidonia yesterday, making off with an estimated $4,500.
It is the second time in less than a year the facility has been robbed, with a similar event taking place last August.
Employees said the men entered at about 7:30 a.m. and, at first, appeared to be conducting routine business. But suddenly they pulled out guns and subdued the four employees. Those employees said the robbery was carried out by either three, four or five men.
Marta Amado, the office's director, said the robbers appeared to be looking for something, and searched through newly-arrived mail.
They then took money from the facility and fled.
