Popular restaurant improves conditions

Staff from the office of the Protección de Alimentos of the Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) returned to the restaurant Lung Fung yesterday and found that the deficient sanitary conditions it documented last January have been improved.

Reynaldo Lee, the head of the food safety agency, recalled that previous inspections had revealed such violations as storing food in rusty refrigerators and curing ducks on the roof of the establishment. Rats were also seen around the restaurant.

Lung Fung managers have since set traps to keep the rats away and replaced the oxidized refrigerators. Ducks are no longer being cured on the roof.
