Master plan for tourism offices almost ready
The new offices of the Unidad técnica del Plan Maestro de Turismo are expected to be up and running on March 15 of this year.
The offices will be located on the fourth floor of the Instituto Panamaño de Turismo’s (Ipat) headquarters in the banking district.
The unit’s national director, Jaime Cornejo, said that they are currently wiring the offices for internet service.
The total cost of equipping the office with computers, furniture, and other materials is estimated to cost $105,000.
Cornejo said that the unit’s staff will be increased, and that the agency will be looking for economists, biologists, infrastructure experts, geographers, architects, specialsts in community participation, facilitators, and planners.
There are currently 32 experts on staff, including national and international consultants, a representative from the World Tourism Organization, and technicians from Ipat.
