Two foreign businessmen assaulted

In less than 48 hours, Vía Transístmica was the scene of two assaults against foreign traders who use this highway to get to the Colón Free Zone.

Dominican José Manuel Polanco, 45, was attacked on Tuesday night while he was traveling inside a taxi.

The robbers managed to steal $3,0000 in cash from Polanco, along with his credit cards, after they forced the taxi driver outside of his vehicle.

Last Sunday, two Nicaraguans were robbed of $16,000 after they were assaulted in the same area.

Police have not said if the robberies are related.
