Law allows Judicial documents to be digitized
Last night President Martín Torrijos approved a law that recognizes and regulates the use of electronic media currently in existence and yet to be developed in the processing of judicial documents. The law was approved by the Asamblea Nacional in Dec. of 2007.
"This will contribute to making judicial processes more agile," the president said.
President of the Corte Suprema de Justicia, Harley Mitchell, who was present when the law was signed in the Casa Amarilla, along with the president of the Asamblea, Pedro Miguel González, said the law means more transparency because it makes the judicial process visible to everyone. He added that there are more than 2 million files in the archives that make up the judicial history of the country. All will be digitized.
