Coffee growers from the Comarca Ngöbe Buglé have started promoting the quality of their organic coffee at fairs throughout the country.
Cirilo Palacios, an exhibitor at the recent fairs in Boquete and La Candelaria in Bugaba, said that for the 102 families working on producing purely organic coffee, which is to say they do not use pesticides, marketing is the key to success.
"We are 102 small growers producing around a thousand pounds of roasted coffee each," he said.
Growers from the Besikó district of the Comarca, in the Nedrini region, have organized themselves to carry their beans to Soloy for grinding and packaging.
The families cultivate 234 hectares and have some 176,000 coffee plants.
