Mici denies fuel shortage

The Ministro de Comercio e Industrias Manuel José Paredes said yesterday that the country is not facing any shortage of gasoline due to delays in shipments to Shell stations.

The minister said that press reports of the problems being encountered by Shell have created the false impression that there is a shortage.

Paredes said that many the ministry has received numerous inquiries about the problem, and that he wanted to clarify that other distributors have adequate supplies of fuel.

Some Shell gas stations started running out of this week because a tanker carrying a shipment has been delayed. it is expected to arrive next week.
