Scott Dunlap survived a bogey on the last hole of the tournament to post a one-stroke victory in the Movistar Championship at Club de Golf de Panama.
Dunlap finished with a final round of 71, one over par, and a four-day total of three under par to claim the $108,000 first prize.
He outlasted first round leader Jeff Klauk and PGA tour veteran Arjun Atwal, who tied for second place at 2 under. Klauk, who posted the lowest score of the tournament with an opening day 64, managed one of the few sub-par rounds on Sunday as he shot a 69. Atwal, the third round leader, limped home with a four over par 74.
A stroke behind them was Chris Smith, who finished at one under after also posting a 74 on Sunday.
Those four were the only players to break par for the tournament as the windy weather meant many more bogeys than birdies on the par 70 course.
On the final day, many of the professionals struggled to break 80, and only four players broke 70.
Dunlap started the day two shots back of Atwal, who got off to a fast start with a birdie at number 1. That, coupled with Dunlap's bogey on the first hole, put the American four off the pace.
A birdie on number five put him back in the hunt, but a bogey at the short par 3 eighth left him with a 36 for the front side.
Atwal, however, collapsed on the front side with three consecutive bogeys on holes 5,6 and 7, plus a bogey on number 9.
He made the turn at three over par, tied with Dunlap for the overall lead. Smith was also lurking at this point, having posted a 36. But bogeys on holes 10 and 11 put him off the pace.
On the back side, Dunlap birdied hole number 12, then bogeyed 13. He made up for that misstep with a birdie on 15, and secured the victory when he safely made bogey at number 18.
