PRD field tops 40
At least 41 candidates have been nominated for the March 9 elections that will select the members of the Comité Ejecutivo Nacional (CEN) of the Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD).
Nominations close today.
Former President Ernesto Pérez Balladares arrived in a new car yesterday at the PRD headquarters to register his candidacy for the party's chairmanship. He was welcomed by his supporters as he declared that his support is well above the 5 percent that some have claimed.
Former director of the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores de la Construcción y Similares (Suntracs) Eduardo Ríos is also running for chairman, along with Ministra de Vivienda Balbina Herrera.
President Martín Torrijos, Johnny García, Geovani Solís, Olga Cárdenas and Alex Jaén are running for secretary.
