Contracts worth $101.7 million
From Dec. 2006 to Dec. 31, 2007, the Autoridad del Canal de Panamá (ACP) awarded contracts for its canal expansion program worth roughly $101.7 million, according to the fifth quarterly report of the Programa de Ampliación del Canal. The entire expansion program has a budget of $5.25 billion, and includes building two new sets of locks with three levels each and three water reutilization tanks.
To date, the ACP has delivered five quarterly reports to the Ejecutivo, the Asamblea Nacional and the ad-hoc committee devoted to the program.
During the fourth trimester of 2007, the report indicated, the administrative team for the expansion program continued working on the policies and procedures that would would be used in administering the expansion. The team consists of personnel from the ACP and the engineering, construction, and operations firm CH2MHILL.
