High profile case of murder by poison gets push
Seventeen months after the murder by poison of the head of the Unidad Sensitiva de la Policía Técnica, Judge Franklin Brewster, investigations into the matter have come to an end and the findings are to be submitted to the appropriate court of justice.
James Bernard, the first prosecuting attorney in charge of directing the indictments, made the announcement yesterday, and added that prosecuting attorney's review of the case is in its final phase.
Bernard further explained that the last thing included in the report were the results of tests that established the whereabouts of each of the suspects in the crime at the time when it occurred.
Two members of the Unidad Sensitiva have been detained. They are Iveth Véliz Ibarra and Keneth Alberto Brown.
A third suspect, Irving Francis, who is also a member of the special Unidad Sensitiva group, has been granted "conditional liberty."
Bernard said there is no doubt that Brewster was murdered, but that the toxic substance used to kill him has not been identified.
Brewster was poisoned on July 3, 2006 and died in the hospital 16 days later.
