Colombia intercepts flight from The Darién
Panamanian authorities have opened an investigation to determine if a plane destroyed Thursday by the Colombian military on a clandestine runway in Córdoba was from this country.
Colombian officials said the plane had taken off from somewhere in Panama and entered Colombia from the Darién.
The plane was a twin-engine Aerocomander 680, which is similar to those often used by drug smugglers.
The plane was intercepted by the Colombian military after it was established that it did not have a flight plan on file or have permission to enter the country. The authorities tracked the plane and destroyed it shortly after it landed.
Colombian officials have not released details about the plane's cargo nor have they disclosed who was on board.
