Inadeh, U.N. team up

El Instituto Nacional de Formación Profesional y Capacitación para el Desarrollo Humano (Inadeh) is investigating the possibility of opening a center in the Ciudad del Saber specializing in the environment . The center will serve to train technicians and carry out research.

Inadeh will sign an agreement this week with the Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (Pnuma), which will advise the organization and participate in its environmental programs.

Brazil's Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje Industrial (Senai) will also participate.

The director of Inadeh, Juan Planells, said the center would train people to work with environmental regulations.

Ligia Castro, administrator of the Autoridad Nacional del Ambiente (Anam), remarked recently that there is a deficit of people trained to work in this area.

"Because the country is growing economically, there is a leak of technicians to the private sector," she said.

She added that "the best technicians are leaving, and they are not being replaced by university graduates with this specialization at the same rate."

Castro announced that he recently signed an agreement with the Secretaría Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación to send employees abroad to study for their master's degrees or doctorates in environmental subjects.

The most important thing about the center for the director of Inadeh is to create a socially conscious business culture attuned to protect the environment.
