Robber dies on a bus

A man was killed and a woman wounded on Wednesday night on a bus en route to Panamá from Colón, near Mocambo, in the Corredor Norte.

Police said the man, who has not yet been identified, was carrying a revolver when he suddenly attacked the driver of the bus and his "pavo" (a Panamanian term for the driver's partner). The thug forced the 63 passengers inside the bus to remove all their personal effects.

According to authorities, five of the passengers on the bus were policemen, one of whom confronted the thief by hitting him in the head with the butt of his gun. Another officer then wrestled and subdued the assailant.
