Chaos on the city´s streets
In December, automobile traffic in Panama City is even worse than normal because of all the shoppers looking for mother's day, Christmas and end of the year gifts. Nearly 400,000 of the total 603,303 cars are in circulations during the last month of the year.
Accidents only aggravate the already constant traffic jams. Police say the worst roadways during Christmas are Vía España, the Transístmica, Avenida Balboa and Avenida Ricardo J. Alfaro.
Calidonia, Los Pueblos and Albrook, where important shopping malls are located, are not spared the vehicular disorder.
The rains forecast for the end of the year by the Sistema Nacional de Protección Civil won´t improve matters.
